Skin cancers around the eye tend to grow locally and invade the surrounding tissue. Complete surgical removal to prevent a recurrence is necessary. Reconstruction is essential to preserve the function of the eyelid, protect the eye, and achieve an acceptable cosmetic result. How the area where the cancer was removed is reconstructed depends on the size and exact location of the defect. Removal of the cancer may be performed in the surgical suite in our office or the hospital operating room.
