We offer argon laser trabeculoplasty to lower intraocular pressure. This procedure is done in our office and takes about 15 minutes. This procedure can decrease the amount of medication needed to control the intraocular pressure.
Trabeculectomy is an outpatient surgery that creates a reservoir under the conjunctiva that allows fluid from inside the eye to drain through a small opening in the white of the eye. Surgery is usually recommended when laser and medication are not able to lower the eye pressure sufficiently. The procedure takes about one hour and is performed in a hospital operating room.
